Melon madness!

03:23 Unknown 2 Comments

Hi everyone!
So like many bloggers out there my inspiration and idol is the one and only Helen Melonlady! -blog found here!
As you may have seen in my Etsy links, I am a lover of art and so I have done a few drawings of melon, not because I'm a stalker just because she is very pretty and her style is amazing, which usually helps to make a decent picture, anyway I am posting pictures of the doodles I have done, I hope you like them! And I hope Melon likes them too!

I call this first one Mangamelon, I think its rather cute and not too bad for my first ever attempt at the art style!
This next one is my attempt at a more realistic drawing, this became very time consuming as with digital art you have to change shades manually rather than just changing the pressure on a pencil. However I am pleased with it.

Both images are made digitally using Melons photos as a base!

Lots if love

Fashion| Good After Nine

17:09 Unknown 0 Comments

As I have said before I am a HUGE admirer or the quirky Jewellery available at Thai company  Good After Nine. Which is why I was so exited to find out that they were sending me the gourgeous Mok CatNecklace to feature in my blog- thank you!
The first thing I noticed is that the Thai postal service is far more reliable that Britain's, the tracking site let me view who handled my package and what they did, including " I put the bag down" being on these notes! It was also very fast considering how far away it had to come!
But that's irrelevant, we want to know about the necklace, it has a dainty yet quite long 18k gold plated chain with a cute clasp and logo tag. It is well made, in the past I have found some chains feel rough against the back of my neck but I can barely feel it with this one.
The pendant is even more fantastic than I expected, the hand painted enamel cat face is so cute and quite realistic for such a small object, I love how the nose features the gold again as does the hollowed out side of the pendant with the company name inside! I also love how is is glazed and polished to give an extra smooth and shiny surface.
I tried a few outfits on with the necklace and it fits many styles- it stands out against plain clothes such as my jumper in the photographs and it makes an adorable accent to a busier outfit.
The range at Good After Nine is incredible, with animal enamel being the main focus in ring, earring and pendant forms, it is easy to miss the hidden beauty's of the Gothic, geometric and colour blocked floral designs which are equally as stylish as any other piece and provides a vast diversity of styles to suit all!

Being a fairly hidden company, Good After Nine is hoping to reach out to buyers in Britain and Internationally via their online shop which you can find in the links I posted at the beginning of this post.
I hope you have a look and share this with your friends and followers and buy yourself something a little bit different!
Lots of love,
Lucycles

Round Two!

02:03 Unknown 0 Comments

Hello guys!
So you may have seen my post a couple weeks back about being nominated for the Liebster award by another blog, well I have just been nominated again by my good friend at www.laura-emely.co.uk ( thank you!!)
So instead of writing a post pretty much identical to the last one I am going to answer Laura's questions from her post, and link you back to the original post where you can see my questions and nominations- of course http://www.laura-emely.co.uk is now added to my nominated list!
So these are Laura's Liebster Questions with my answers!
1. If you were to be one Disney princess, who would you be and why?
I think I would have to be Rapunzel, without the evil witches of course. I purely chose her because I want long hair.

2. If you were only allowed to choose between blush and lip colour, which would you choose?
Lip colour every time.

3. Where would you most like to travel to either home or abroad?
Abroad! I would love to travel some day.

4. What do you most like to blog about?
I don't even know, I just like blogging. Though wish lists are quite fun to put together!

5. Who is your favourite blogger/YouTuber?

6. Do you believe in love at first sight?
I don't think you could believe it until you experience it. But that's not to say its not possible!

7. What is your favourite clothing brand?
Hearts and Bows! Find them at Ark Clothing

8. High End vs. High Street beauty?
I'm a high street shopper, though I would most likely be lured in by high end products if I had the money for it! Trying to keep my bank card away from the new Charlotte Tilbury range is going to be a struggle.

9. What is your staple fashion piece?
I have this purple floral garland from Topshop that I wear all the time, in fact its probably my trademark among friends.

10. What was your worst fashion faux pas?
I'm not a fan of 'perfect' eyebrows. Sure they need shape and structure but when you see girls with big stencilled straight lined brows its like - yeah you look amazing but you don't look real?

11. What makes you proud?
I try to make myself proud in the things I say and do, if I know I entertained, helped out, or cheered someone up I feel good about myself just like anyone else would.

So those were the answers, I nominate http://www.laura-emely.co.uk and the others listed on the post here along with my own questions!
Love from Lucycles

Fashion| The Back to School Basics

00:07 Unknown 0 Comments

Hello everyone,
The time is approaching hella fast, in just a few weeks many of you will be returning to school or college, some of you may even be jumping the nest headed for University! One thing all of you will need is a killer first day look to make people go WOW that girl has style.
Personally, I am spending an extra year at college before I go to uni and to my horror, at 18 years of age I am going to have to wear a uniform!? That's not right. But I have gathered and internetted for some hot accessories and shoes, and of course I have found some good outfits for those fortunate enough to have free reign of your clothing this year ;)
First up is shoes, because I love shoes and couldn't wait to go online to SpyLoveBuy and scroll through their masses of foot fabulisers! I had quite a hard time with this, as I have to wear black or dark shoes next year and I really am not a black shoe kinda gal... I go to SpyLoveBuy regularly and make lengthy wishlists of pink shoes, tall shoes, sparkling shoes, but rarely black shoes. Of course however I did find a few quirky cuties amongst the glitter that I did fancy the look of ( all 3 pictured above )
The first pair have a vintage appeal to them, the mahogany leather type material and wooden sole are so cute, especially with those cute buckles as well! They remind me of the old films where everyone would stop off to get their shoes shined by the likes of Charlie Bucket or Oliver Twist. The second pair are simple and on trend- the cut out boot. Twinned with a pair of pastel tone laced socks these certainly fill the look of the preppy yet innocent student that everyone wants to know. Best to stick with the first pair if rains due though ;). The final pair brings a chunkier shoe, it reminds me of a vamped up and alternative vibes dolly shoe, does anyone else get what I mean by that? Imagine your old school shoes as a kid and add a bit of attitude to it and you get these bad boys. Find them here and rock your socks off!
Find the links below:
Cut Out Boot

Next up is jewellery, now the four pictured above are from one on my favourite new brands Good After Nine, based in Thailand this company creates some fantastic alternative jewellery, with a wide range of animal enamel rings, pendants and earrings! The beagle ring and cat pendant are among my faces but there is so much variety you should have no trouble finding one you love! Geometric shapes have also been a huge hit this simmer and they have the perfect gold plated geometry collection too. Some products are a tad pricey, but I assure you they are of a fab quality!

Find your perfect accessories here:

Of course, we all need clothes! So here's a little collection I clicked together from Ark Clothing (probably my favourite shop ever)
As it's a back to school edit I had to throw some gingham in there somewhere so I have included some snazzy leggings and a cute collared dress especially for this occasion, nothing says education like a black and white checker pattern right? Top left is a floaty top for those college days were image is everything as you only have two lessons with 3 hours in between, and the gorgeous floral blazer will keep you looking sensational when the temperature begins to flop a little!
As you can see I'm still bummed about having to wear uniform next year and I don't really want to talk about clothes ;)

Next up is bags, you can't turn up without a bag that's just silly really, at school, your bag is your rock. It hides your notes when you can't bear to look at them, it conveniently has them when you need them. It stores that bag of crisps you had forgotten about until just now when you're hungry.- your bag will always be there for you. The three I have chosen are super cute and should be quite capable of carrying everything you should need for the day. The first is a Pink backpack from MiPac these are really good, I used to have one and it lasted all year until my friends drew crude images all over its exterior... They have inner and outer pockets and pen holders for your convenience! Next is this red colour backpack I found, it has a modern satchel style but its a backpack, nifty huh? Its reinforced corners should stop paper from creasing up inside too.
Last is a beige leather look satchel with gold details, it's big enough and strong enough for your daily needs and will pair with most outfits so is surely worthy of a must buy title!
Find these bags here:

Last but certainly not least on my back to school essentials are beauty products! Everyone knows that the right look on the first day can determine your reputation for the entire year, and one beauty blunder can ruin it forever- you can be the hottest girl in the room but the moment your best friend says " hey do you remember that time you came to school orange?"- you're done for, so stay savvy!
The key to a flawless face is a long lasting yet gentle foundation that obviously suits your skin tone. I would recommend Maybelline SuperStay24 as it doesn't irritate your skin AND it lasts all day, this foundation also has SPF 10 to protect your skin against the sun!
For me, eye-shadow is key, sultry eyes make for a killer wink, but you don't want to overdose- this is school after all. Which is why I picked the Benefit Glamorous Neutrals pallette to keep your eyes sexy yet understated with the mix of pearl and bronzed shades.
Well kept lips are more of a necessity for life rather than school but I am absolutely in love with lip stain pens right now, especially the Revlon Just Bitten range! It has so many shades which lock on to your lips after you simply glide it on and hardly budge all day and they also have a moisture balm on the other end, I like the red one but for a less vivid look there are plenty lighter tones, and plenty of brands to pick from!
I don't even have to talk about fragrance, we all know that if you wear Daisy by Marc Jacobs then you are doing something right, its sweet yet mellow and fresh, not faint but not overpowering. It is by far the best cult fragrance of the last decade and I think everyone should wear it!
Onto hair, you can do your hair however you like, just please give Aussie's Miracle Hair Insurance leave in conditioner a try, there's a whole range of products to go with it but spritzing this stuff on after a shower or in the morning will leave your hair so strong and it will smell great too. I swear by this brand, I have never been disappointed by any products!
Finally, your back to school look wouldn't be completed without some outfit coordinated nails, which is why I picked the Essie Holiday Kit, a collection of 5 stunning mini polishes in a cute little gift box. Whether you want plain nails, colour blocking nails or maybe like myself you just have to cram as many doodles in your do as possible, this is a must have!
Find these below:

I hope you have found some inspiration for your own back to school bits wherever it is you may be headed, just remember:
 Looking great=Feeling great=Being motivated=Success!

May the next step in education be worthwhile.

Lots of love

The Liebster Award

09:48 Unknown 4 Comments

The Liebster Award is a fab little award given by blogger to blogger. This award is a great opportunity to boost the exposure of smaller blogs out there, and to build relationships between fellow bloggers.
The blogging world is absolutely mahoosive, so by helping others reach the world you can help yourself too!  It doesn't matter if you have 1 follower or 100000, you are a blogger and your blog is important no matter how big or small, new or old.
Massive thanks to Natalie Callahan at Thought Bubble for the nomination! It feels brilliant to know that my tiny little blog has been noticed!
Should your blog get nominated here is what you should do on your own post! - good luck x

Natalie Callahan's questions:
1. If you had the choice of either being able to fly, turn invisible on command, or having the ability to read minds, which would you choose and why?
I think I would like to be able to fly, it sounds so free and rush hour would be a breeze ( literally ). Sure being invisible or having mind reading powers would be cool if I was on the run or trying to cheat in a test but really flying would be eternally useful.

•Harry Potter (all 7 I'm a huge fan )

I played the violin, piano and clarinet as a kid but I think the most enjoyable instrument I have is my trusty Ukelele called Jeffery.

I would love to have one of those tropical island homes like Richard Branson with a big beach :L
5. Best memory?
I have a lot of memories to choose from, but getting my A Level results today is not among them.
6. What's your silliest fear? (We all have one!)
I have a fear of lifts after I got my hand stuck in the doors as a toddler -ouch!
7. Forgetting current skills, if you could have any career you wanted, what would it be?
If I was good at science and a strong swimmer I would love to be a marine biologist!  That just sounds so fun!
8. Favorite animal?
I love giraffes.
9. Cold weather or hot weather?
Hot but not sweaty humid hot
10. Favorite planet in our solar system?
Pluto, it's a dwarf planet and I'm kinda short so I figure we must be bro's.

Alright! Finally, the next Liebster nominations are..

Beauty| Subtle gradient pink manicure

17:28 Unknown 2 Comments

Hey guys so I just did a cute manicure and thought I would explain it to you. It's a very easy to do subtle gradient, I used pink shades, I assume it would work with other similar shade combinations,  maybe some bluey hues would look great!  I just chose pink to match my dress. Anyway to get the effects first I applied a non UV gel strength coat (Avon) and allowed drying time. This gives a smooth surface for polish and strengthens the nail!
Then I applied a line of the darker shade (Rio nail art pen in bright pink ) as if it was a French tip manicure although it does not have to be neat. If you use a nail art pen like I did I find the thin brush easier than the pen nib.
While the first colour is still wet apply the lighter colour (I used effervescent opal by Revlon as it is a sheer colour ) over the whole nail and it mixed with the first to create a gradient, you can use more or less of either polish to change the strength of the colours!
After the colour is dry apply a top coat ,I used Sally Hansen diamond strength as it is tough against chipping and dries fast!
You should end up with a similar look to my photo below,  note that the polishes I used were thin and had a level of transparency, thick and opaque polishes may be more difficult to work with using this technique.
I hope you enjoy your nails !
Lots of love
