Lifestyle| Nottingham Castle Day Out
10:58 Unknown 0 Comments
Last week, me and my boyfriend took a day out in Nottingham and visited Nottingham Castle, the weather was beautiful but it was extremely hot to be walking around all day! The castle has been turned into a museum and gallery however ba large section of the gallery is currently closed, I think they're having refurbishments. So today I have compiled a group of photographs from the day to share with you and maybe they will encourage you to visit too!
I wore the new dress from my recent haul post! The ticket man said "you're dressed up a bit classy for this place aren't you?" Which I found quite amusing.
Here's my boyfriend trying to mock my posing!
I imagine this dude was turned to stone while looking at an ugly person like "dayyyum girl you got some issues right dere"
This was the panorama I took over the balcony, you can see for miles and miles!
I had some delicious rose lemonade at the arty glass table.
Yes, it's a teapot made to look like corn and I want one a lot!
"Hello tiny chair, you teeny weeny tiny chair *crack* ugh. Curse you tiny chair!"-Vector and his shrink ray
A model view of 1800's Nottingham
Taxidermy exhibit
And a final lunch at Costa:) I had peach iced tea, a chorizo panini and a raspberry and white chocolate muffin!
I hope you liked the look of the castle!
Love you lots

Fashion| Primark and Charity haul!
22:52 Unknown 0 Comments
Hello there!
Today I went into Derby city centre and poked around the shops looking for a few bargains and boy did I get some!
First up - The Primark haul!
My priority was hair accessories, I bought two floral topknot bands in peach and mint (£2 each) and as you can see they are dead cute! I got a chunky floral headband too which was only £4! Fab price compared to the £12 purple one from topshop you may have seen me wearing on instagram!
In the makeup department I got a red lip stain pen (£1.50) which is surprisingly good, in fact even now after taking my makeup off I can still see a pink tint so in terms of lasting colour its a win, not a win on taste though I would say wear strawberry balm over it as I licked my lips and it was gross. I also decided to try out a Kohl eyeliner (£1.50)as I heard the pigment is better than a pencil, which I agree with after testing. In the picture its that black cylinder, looks like a lipstick tube more than an eyeliner but after removing the lid it has a clean twist up function which I like and definitely isn't a lipstick.
I also picked up some eye shadow applicators (15 for £1) as I heard they are a good tool to help create gradient nail polish effects by sponging colour to your nails, I'll put a tryout of how that goes up here soon!
I forgot to take a picture with the Kohl liner but here's how bold the lipstain comes out, and it stayed like this until I took off my makeup!
The next part is the Charity shop haul!
I bought two dresses in the Derby cancer research store as I simply could not resist!
The first dress actually turned out to be a Primark dress but it caught my eye with its bold print and colour and at only £4.75 I'm still pretty sure I saved at least a couple of pounds off the RRP.
The next dress and final purchase of my haul was possibly a goldmine in charity shop attire, the dress came from topshop which we all know is pricey, it was beautiful and classy and cost me £4.50! I paid in change, never have I bought anything topshop with change! This exited me. I really don't know what to write about this one, even my poor quality photo looks good.
I hear a lot of negative talk about the likes of Primark and certainly charity shops but really, its worth a look because you can find some really good products and not hurt your bank balance, so what if its been worn by someone else you only have to wash it and hey presto all evidence is gone! Finding those golden items can take some rummaging but I would highly recommend it. Take the topshop dress for example, originally cost way more than a fiver but here we are.
So get out there and grab a bargain while helping those who need us while we just want to buy things, I felt less guilty for certain!
Lots of love

Lifestyle| The Apiary Cafe Bar
15:55 Unknown 0 Comments
Hello everyone!
I've just returned from my lunch at the beautifully decorated bar and cafe The Apiary in Castle Donington. The Apiary is a cute spot filled with renaissance style paintings, decorative mirrors, beautiful chandeliers and the quaintest little china crockery, not to mention the delicious gluten free cakes and mouth watering lunchtime meals.
At weekends the popular village bar has live music performed by local musicians and even the bar staff join in, the atmosphere really is great! During the week the bar is a cute and stylish place for coffee and cake, or a nice jacket potato (bacon, brie and cranberry is my favorite ). At night on the weekends it is the perfect place for a few beers or spirit mixers with good friends and great music!
On my trip today I had a Malibu and Coke and a walnut coffee cake with cream which was so soft and had a really great flavor, my grandma had a shandy with a slice of black forest gateaux which I tasted (also delish). I love how the majority of the cakes served are gluten free and all of them are home made, I find this impressive as there are often a large variety to choose from. All of the meals are also made with fresh ingredients, many of which are locally sourced. The staff are always friendly and welcome new customers with respect and open arms, so if you're in the area or want a true taste of British tea head on up here today, you might even see me there!

Ohhh the weather outside is frightful
and my wellies are delightful
since there's no place to go
blog at home, blog at home blog at home!
Yes it's a Christmas song originally and yes it's July but hey I tried!.. I really hate this weather, it's bad for your hair, makeup, mood and twinned with the heat I am losing my mind! So much that I put my wellies on (they're fab) and went to the shop to buy nail polish remover ( manicure photo on instagram ) and came back with everyone's childhood fave -the kinder happy hippos!!! Honestly have never been so excited to see something for a pound in the Co-Op. I expect many people to be cowering from the storm on blogger and other social media sites today so don't forget to follow and share my blog/instagram/twitter guys! I'm a very social gal so don't be shy to ask me questions or request blog posts! It would give me something to do all day until I go for a cosy film night with a friend later!
I know this post is kinda pointless it's more of a gap filling thing with a few pictures from my morning :)
Love you lots

Today's post is a little review on Upbeat high protein dairy drink in Mango and Passion fruit flavour, made by The Good Whey Company! The good whey company are commonly known for their powdered whey protein supplements in various flavours and have introduced Upbeat as a preprepared portion of their natural product.
I bought this 250ml bottle with my lunch the other day at quite a high price of £1.85 or thereabouts, I wouldn't usually pay that much but the flavour sounded really good so I gave it a try... And I loved it!! The smooth texture of the creamy drink didn't clash with the tropical flavours and reminded me more of a smoothie than a milkshake. The fact that it was high in protein but lower in fats and sugars than other similar products on the market meant that I didn't feel guilty for treating myself as I knew it was good for both my body and my taste buds!
The drink also helps the economy by using fresh British milk rather than wholesale milk which is sometimes imported- gross. I like my milk fresh!
The drinks are also available in Blueberry and Raspberry flavour, and if you aren't a fan of tropical tastes there is also a good old British Strawberry flavour!
I found my bottle (shown below) in my local co-op but you can read more about the company and its products and where to buy them by clicking this link to www.thegoodwhey.com
Doesn't it look good with my spotted jumpsuit from Asda!! ;)
Hope you enjoyed this post!

Beauty| Crystal Nails
19:47 Unknown 0 Comments
So recently I have seen a lot of fabulous jewellery from Galaxy Rox (click here for thier shop! ) which inspired me to do this sweet manicure. The pictures below are not fab so if you can't see ,the effect appears to have a jagged 'cut crystal'effect which is really cool!
To start with I used Sally Hansen Diamond Strength as a base coat as it strengthens your natural nails instantly and also gives them a healthy shine after you take off your polish, well worth the high price of around £9.
For the colour I used a Rimmel London lasting colour polish in Purple Pulse. This was my choice, you can use any colour you please for this look though I have found that lighter shades like white are very subtle. These polishes are average and I expensive at around £3-4.
The Crystal effect is created using Barry M's Crystal Glaze polish, it has hundreds of tiny clear reflective shards in the clear but slightly pink (not noticeable once applied ) polish. As part of Barry M's effects range it costs around £4 and is quite long lasting.
To create the look simply use one coat of each polish as ordered above, use two coats of colour polish if you want a more vibrant look but don't forget about allowing drying time between each coat otherwise your Mani will gloop! If you want a smoother texture you can use another coat of Diamond Strength or any other clear topcoat at the end.
I hope you guys like the look! Here are a few photos!
I chose a colour to match my tie dye crop top (from Ark)!
Here are what my polishes look like!
The finished do! In person the crystal glaze shards are much more visible and more like a mineral rock!
Fashion| Hearts and Bows at Ark Wishlist
22:44 Unknown 0 Comments
Its time for another wish list, this time I am picking my favourite items from Hearts&Bows clothing which is available exclusively in store and online through Ark, see website here
As you will come to learn, I tend to focus on my personal favourite brands when writing this type of post. So as a person that cannot go into an Ark shop without buying at least two outfits with mainly Hearts&Bows products composing them, I feel I am the right person to listen to regarding this brand!
The styles at Hearts&Bows are designed to suit the seasons, with neon chunky knits for a cosy Christmas and perfect pastel camisoles for the summer festival season. You need never feel unclimatised again!
The first outfit I have found is this cute monochrome co-ord piece made up of matching crop top and skirts. I have noticed Hearts&Bows selling a lot of co-ords this season and as the pieces must be bought separately, it is easier to mix and match your favourite styles, on average the cost of the whole outfit costs around £40, bargain! I love the cut of this outfit because it can show off curves and shape even among the more Petit shoppers such as myself ( 5'2" and fluctuating between sizes 6 and 8 , nobody believes I'm 18 ). The palm tree print is bang on trend this summer and gives that tropical feel anywhere!
Next up is this adorable neon lasted skater dress with laced peter pan collar! I think that this dress is perfect for 'that last minute barbeque party where you have 20 minutes to get ready but still wanna look fab' kind of deal. The cute colours bring out a glow in your skin that you didn't even know was possible and would never fail to achieve the look you need, whether going for the dainty doll approach or the 'add some chunky shoes and jewels to make a rockstar' style. The shape of this dress is typical of a skater dress nipping in at the waist to show of your fab figure for all sizes!
Click here to find this gorgeous dress!
If you have a more angled and straight cut style you may want to opt for this option instead, taking the same neon pastel shade but using a straight cut 'T-shirt dress' style with a block white pointed collar as opposed to the soft lace in the previous item. This item is designed for the egdier audience who want to show a bit of attitude with their outfit. This dress is perfect for those with less curves as is won't make any part of you look swamped if you aren't entirely proportional.
You can find it by clicking here
If you're struggling to find the ultimate laid back look while still rocking your style then a set of dungarees will certainly give that afternoon in the garden a bit of pazazz! The classic clip together pinafore style gives great freedom into how you may wear and style this piece,it even has pockets! The adorable pattern also gives a suave appearance. I like how the bottom half of these dungarees are tailored so that they highlight your figure perfectly.I would pair this outfit with a large hat, not necessarily straw but that could work, a crop top or bandau and a pair of gladiator sandals!
You can find this here
For a cute night time outfit I have picked out this sparkly velvety playsuit which will wow all your friends on a Saturday night! The elasticated waistband will hug your body but won't constrict you if you have a few too many bloaty beers! This playsuit is certainly for the brave as it is very low cut, however the tightness over the bust area can be changed as it has a simple halterneck which you tie yourself, it is also backless as you can see in the image below! So if you have the occasion, the body and the guts to pull this off you will most definitely be the hottest girl in the room!
Find it here
Last but not least is this dainty little Peter Pan collared dress, I really love the simplicity of the white and black spotty pattern with this dress as it is very cute, girly and feminine. I can imagine this looking great at a festival with a floral headdress and white converse or vans, with a pop of coral lippy! The shape of this dress will flatter any body shape and give off a really kitsch style.
Buy it up here
So there you go, a little list from hearts and bows! Don't forget to click on the links and while you are there why not browse some of the many other brands available in Ark! They do also have a menswear section so don't just tell your girlies tell the men too!
Lots of love from
Lucycles
