Fresh Start

00:47 Unknown 0 Comments

Hi everyone!

I have settled into a new house this month and haven't been able to blog because until now - WE HAVE HAD NO WIFI! But thankfully the nice installation man has fixed that!

I hope everyone has had a wonderful Christmas, I got very spoiled with gifts including a new phone, GHD V Coral straighteners, a smoothie maker and lots of lovely things to eat, spend and wear :) Since then things have been rather stressed out *untimely family hoohahs yada yada yada* but I feel next year will be wonderful still :)

I still really want to look into a YouTube blog but I have absolutely no idea where to start and frankly I'm afraid I'll look silly talking to a camera in an empty room so if anyone could give me a few pointers on where to start I will love you forever :)

I hope everyone is having a wonderful winter and I will be updating you all with posts very soon!

Lots of love

Fashion| Winter Essential Tag

01:19 Unknown 0 Comments

Hi everyone!
So my friend and fellow blogger Laura has tagged me for a Winter Essentials Tag post! Christmas is well on its way and this post has definitely increased my excitement for the 25th!
What's your ultimate party season lip product?
I can't get enough of my BeautyUK lipstick in Plumalicious! Its a dark purpley-red colour and even on very pale skin like mine it just looks so wintery and comforting. It was a very inexpensive item for well under the £5 mark so it does transfer a little as the day goes on but it is certainly a must buy this year.
What's your essential makeup product?
BB Cream! It is important this winter to keep your skin in good condition in the cold and ruthless weather, but you still want your skin looking flawless! BB Creams are perfect for this dilemma as most of them have both colour, moisturiser and SPF- summer might be over but the sun is still there! I use a Rimmel London BB which has like 9-in-1 advantages but everyone has different needs for their skin type.
What are you most hoping to see under your tree Christmas morning?
Well I am quite interested in starting a vlogging channel, so a shiny new Samsung NXMini would be amazing.. But in more realistic terms I would love to see a new pair of dark green Dr.Martens!... I actually made my Christmas list tonight in the form of an Amazon wish list sent straight to dads Facebook :P
Name one beauty essential that's never missing from your bag during the colder months.
Cherry ChapStick. In fact even in the warmer months its always there... For me its just the perfect pick me up for my lips which are prone to quite bad dryness. I often use it before applying lipstick or after using a Lush Lip Scrub.
What are your winter weather skincare saviours?
All year round my skin just sucks, but in winter it gets so dry it actually becomes prone to flaking -gross. And if that's not bad enough after a dry spell for some reason it becomes oily? So I noticed that my moisturiser was dealing with dryness but made my skin very oily which is where I discovered H2O+ Marine Treatment Gel!!!! Which is a very very good moisturiser and practically erased my issues within 48hrs of first use and its also oil free! Say hello to perfectly balanced skin!
What's winter going to smell like this year?
Ooh for me its spiced wine and berries! They just make me feel so snuggly!
Is the berry eye the new berry lip?
No. I do special effects makeup and the Berry Eye looks I have seen look wayyyyy to similar to the effects I could make using a bruise pallete...that just puts me off.
What are your greatest winter indulgences?
Generally just way too much alcohol and a large quantity of sweets and chocolate!
Lush Christmas: Your top pick?
I couldn't possibly pick a favourite, so its gotta be the WoW! Gift box which has just about everything in it!
Name one (or more) random winter essential.
A big thick tartan scarf!!!!

Fashion| Miss Rebel Winter Wishlist

16:26 Unknown 0 Comments

♫Do you wanna build a wishlist?
Of clothes you can afford
Miss Rebel has a lot of this
You couldn't miss
The bargains on this post!♫

Yes I know, It may be November still but whether you like it or not the festive season has begun, particularly for us blogger folk who have to plan style posts wayyy too early to admit! So I figured I would start this post with a song, admittedly a poorly adapted number from THAT Disney film which despite being a seasonal thing seems to have been hot topic all year- sheesh!

But yeah.. Rambling- the point being Welcome to my Wonderful Winter Wishlist inspired by the delightful range at affordable fashion site www.missrebel.com.
I thought I'd do this with some sort of structure, as there are of course two sides to Christmas
The Winter Warmers and The Glam Party Dresses! As you can probably guess I shall save the best   (and by best I mean sparkly ) 'till last and start off with those all important snug essentials!

First up is this Blanket style Cape cardigan, I like to think of it as Winters answer to the Kimono. its loose and stylish but certainly looks like the perfect accessory to a hot chocolate! Also as a heads up, I cannot bring myself to include a Christmas jumper in what is meant to be a style post but if you are looking for that cringey Olaf or Reindeer kinda thing then the site also has PLENTY of those!

Dogtooth Duster CoatFaux Fur Trim Cape
Next up is "Outerwear" or as everybody else calls them- Coats. This year I personally have fallen for the Capes trend, Edna Mode from the Incredibles would disapprove but to hell with it they look nice! I particularly like this cape as it also fulfills my love of fur- always faux of course I do love animals! I have also picked the Gingham duster coat as it looks stylish, smart and warm, the lack of hood only encourages the purchase of a matching umbrella but that's not necessarily bad!

Last but certainly not least on the Winter Warmer half of this list is the all-rounder jeans, I love these as they are so stylish with the high waist and acid wash! If you're stuck for choice, a decent pair of jeans will always keep you warm and they make your bum look great- bonus!

Next up is the more glam side to Christmas- Partywear!
Lace Bust Midi Dress.
It's the family crimbo do, you want to look great but the conservative grandparents would not approve of the countless sexy numbers in the wardrobe, this laced midi will tick all the boxes, its smart, sexy and it's still very modest!

Black Bodycon Dress in Sequin
The family do is over and it's time to get sexy for a night out with the girls! I picked this Sparkly LBD because it's perfect for winter- its gorgeous and it has sleeves! But it would also look amazing all year round with the right accessories.

Cream Embellish Detail Peplum Dress
Finally I have picked this stunning white embellished peplum to make that night shine just that little bit more, you'll be the star of the show with tonnes of class!

I hope this wishlist has inspired you this Christmas and of course there are going to be many themed post over the next few weeks, dont forget to have a look at www.missrebel.com for all your winter bargains with dresses from only £5!

Keep Warm

Lifestyle| Relatable Ranting

22:50 Unknown 0 Comments

As I sit here on Skype to my boyfriend as he eats his spaghetti I am faced with the anger of the inevitable and thoroughly frustrating issue of the poor internet connection! Having suffered with the dropped call issue multiple times tonight I am venting my disapproval towards the interwebs.
One would think that since everyone has WiFi they'd damn well make it work properly- but alas no, the bufferface saga continues.

So as also many of you will be living this endless loop of insanity too I invite you all to this post and its comment section to write your rants about the internet :D

Hope you're all having a great night and may the odds be ever in your favor
(Yes, I went to see the new Hunger Games last night- it was brill)

Lifestyle/Beauty| What do I do?

12:05 Unknown 0 Comments

Hey guys! So I'm going to fill you in on what it is I do, currently in college and hoping to progress through uni and into my career! I study a course in Hair and Media Makeup at Level 3, which is equivalent to A Level standards. Most people think that because of the nature of my course I do beauty, this is really not the case. While we do study the basics of makeup and hair we focus mainly on the less normal themes such as photographic makeup, camouflage makeup ,airbrush makeup and my favourite and future career choice- special effects makeup!!
The variety in this is so diverse and runs from simple face paining and body art to using prosthetic products to physically alter the shape, size and texture of the worked area,in most of my photos this will be the face.
So yes, a brief outline and some photos! Hope you think they're good!
Lots of love

Beauty| Day Makeup Haul & Tutorial

19:01 Unknown 0 Comments

Hi Everyone!
So today I am showing you a part haul/ part tutorial post.
A few days ago I went into my local Boots store and bought myself some products from Natural Collection and Rimmel London. So I thought I would tell you a bit about the products and give a little day makeup tutorial using the items I purchased.
So first up I'll mention the new Rimmel BB Cream I bought in shade Light. So everybody knows the basics of BB creams now, they are good for the skin, and also have toning and primer properties as well as a colour pigment. The Rimmel one claims to be 9-in-1 as a primer, moisturiser, pore minimiser, concealer, high coverage, smoother, mattifier, brightener and skin protector- WOW. I thought, all that in one tube? I had to try it out and I am really impressed, it stays put and is just the right consistency, colour and weight for me! also guys I think there is a 2 for £10 offer on all Rimmel products if you're interested ;)
Next up are the Natural Collection products, which are all fragrance-free and only £1.99 each or when I went it was any 2 for £3.50 so I spent a grand total of £7 on the following:

Pressed Powder Foundation in shade 'Neutral'
This is a very light shade but it is very natural and it works perfectly dusted over the BB cream, This product also does well to lighten up your complexion if for example your foundation was a shade or so to dark. i find it makes my skin feel really soft and it helps mattify my skin reducing any oily shine!

Pressed Powder Blush in 'Peach Melba'
This shade was really appealing, I wanted a new blush but I didn't fancy the generic pink/rosy blush, so I opted for this, it is more of a dark coral/rose shade, but not so dark that it could be mistaken for a bronzer! It just adds a nice, subtle warm glow to your cheeks. Perfect for the coming Autumnal chill!

Eye Lines Eyeliner in 'White'
I've been searching for a white eyeliner for a while now, as I know that having white on your bottom waterline is said to make your eyes look wider and bigger. Some people use it on the top waterline too for the Anime Eyes effect! I shan't be sporting bad but have a look at the photos below to understand what I mean if this is new to you.

Moisture Shine Lipstick in 'Pink Mallow'
Now this is slightly different for me, I usually opt for the bold pinks, reds and the occasional coral shade. In other words I usually want to make an impact with bright lips. But when I saw this lipstick I really took a liking to it, as it is a nice subtle colour but it has this soft pink tone to it that really does live up to its name, not only do my lips feel soft like marshmallows but they're pink too!

So that's the rundown on the products I bought, now here's a quick tip on how i styled them!
( P.S. sorry about the photo quality)

1. Apply BB Cream to face, Focussing
 on the cheeks and T-zone,
 then blend with foundation brush
2. Apply pressed powder all over and
apply blusher to cheeks
3. Apply Lipstick with lip brush for precision.
use lipliner also if availiable.
4. Apply White Eyeliner to bottom
waterline.
5. Apply Black eyeliner to top lid/lashline
6. Apply mascara to top&bottom lashes

7.Apply your usual natural eyebrow routine.

ta-dah!

Lifestyle| Poundland stationary haul!

22:01 Unknown 0 Comments

Hey there, I know I've been a little quiet recently and I'm sorry! I have started my new college course in Hair and Media Makeup which is essentially hair and beauty with some scars, blood and sci-fi thrown in there. Its been dead fun and the girls I have met in the course are lovely and we all get along nicely. Anyway that's why I haven't been active, since school has begun I have put together a little supplies haul from the cheap and cheerful poundland! So I hope you find some of your own bargains :)

Pretty notebooks in A4,5&6 together!

Purple stapler and hole punch!

Can't turn up without a pen!

Considering you get 6 for £1 these highlighters are fairly decent quality!

I don't need crayons for college, I bought them to carve into little sculptures..

Bottle with ice tube!

5 animal print mechanical pencils!

The generic Tupperware lunch box :)

People often associate poundland with cheap rubbish but I think that for only spending £8 and all of it working just fine you can't really complain!

Happy bargain hunting!

Melon madness!

03:23 Unknown 2 Comments

Hi everyone!
So like many bloggers out there my inspiration and idol is the one and only Helen Melonlady! -blog found here!
As you may have seen in my Etsy links, I am a lover of art and so I have done a few drawings of melon, not because I'm a stalker just because she is very pretty and her style is amazing, which usually helps to make a decent picture, anyway I am posting pictures of the doodles I have done, I hope you like them! And I hope Melon likes them too!

I call this first one Mangamelon, I think its rather cute and not too bad for my first ever attempt at the art style!
This next one is my attempt at a more realistic drawing, this became very time consuming as with digital art you have to change shades manually rather than just changing the pressure on a pencil. However I am pleased with it.

Both images are made digitally using Melons photos as a base!

Lots if love

Fashion| Good After Nine

17:09 Unknown 0 Comments

As I have said before I am a HUGE admirer or the quirky Jewellery available at Thai company  Good After Nine. Which is why I was so exited to find out that they were sending me the gourgeous Mok CatNecklace to feature in my blog- thank you!
The first thing I noticed is that the Thai postal service is far more reliable that Britain's, the tracking site let me view who handled my package and what they did, including " I put the bag down" being on these notes! It was also very fast considering how far away it had to come!
But that's irrelevant, we want to know about the necklace, it has a dainty yet quite long 18k gold plated chain with a cute clasp and logo tag. It is well made, in the past I have found some chains feel rough against the back of my neck but I can barely feel it with this one.
The pendant is even more fantastic than I expected, the hand painted enamel cat face is so cute and quite realistic for such a small object, I love how the nose features the gold again as does the hollowed out side of the pendant with the company name inside! I also love how is is glazed and polished to give an extra smooth and shiny surface.
I tried a few outfits on with the necklace and it fits many styles- it stands out against plain clothes such as my jumper in the photographs and it makes an adorable accent to a busier outfit.
The range at Good After Nine is incredible, with animal enamel being the main focus in ring, earring and pendant forms, it is easy to miss the hidden beauty's of the Gothic, geometric and colour blocked floral designs which are equally as stylish as any other piece and provides a vast diversity of styles to suit all!

Being a fairly hidden company, Good After Nine is hoping to reach out to buyers in Britain and Internationally via their online shop which you can find in the links I posted at the beginning of this post.
I hope you have a look and share this with your friends and followers and buy yourself something a little bit different!
Lots of love,
Lucycles
